The Department of Civil Engineering at Netaji Subhas University of Technology, West Campus (formerly Ch. Brahm Prakash Government Engineering College Jaffarpur), was established in 2007, with the inaugural batch of B.Tech. (Civil Engineering) students graduating in 2011. The college became affiliated with NSUT in 2020, and the first batch of NSUT-affiliated students graduated in 2024. The department is dedicated to producing skilled civil engineers, supported by experienced faculty, who focus on both academic and comprehensive student development. The department actively engages in numerous consultancy projects, further contributing to its reputation for quality work. Currently, nine faculty members, including Professors, Associate Professors, and Assistant Professors, contribute to the department’s ongoing growth and success.

Courses offered

The Department offers 01 Undergraduate (UG),  01 Postgraduate (PG) and Ph.D. programmes. The UG programme in civil engineering was started in 2007 right from the inception of the Institute. The Master of Technology programmes is a two-year course-based programme. Students take about 12 courses from within and outside the Department, according to the programme requirements. The courses offered are of high standard, many include advanced topics and topics based on recent research. In addition, the department also offers high quality research programmes at the doctoral level.

To stay aligned with current technological advancements, the UG and PG curricula have recently been updated in accordance with NEP 2020. These changes are designed to give students practical insights into real-world technological developments, preparing them to meet industry demands effectively.
